The Network partners with the National Park Service to showcase the Connected Conservation webinar series (formerly the Scaling Up webinar series). Monthly webinars highlight topics and tools aimed at furthering the practice of landscape conservation. Explore the webinars – both the archived past webinars and upcoming scheduled webinars – to hear about innovative work underway in the field across the continent.

Upcoming Schedule:

March 25, 2020, 3 PM ET — Using State-Side LWCF Grants to Improve Outdoor Recreation Opportunities
Join Elisabeth Fondriest, Lacy Alison, and Emily Ferguson (all National Park Service) to learn about the State-Side Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which provides matching grants to States and local governments for outdoor recreation. Over the years, State-Side LWCF has supported the purchase and protection of 3 million acres of recreation lands and over 44,000 projects to develop basic recreation facilities in every State and territory of the nation. Funding for State-Side LWCF has increased dramatically in the last 5 years, making it an even more important funding source for NPS partners.

April 23, 2020, 3 PM ET — Boulder, Colorado’s Open Space. Join Deryn Wagner and Mark Davison with the City of Boulder, Colorado, to learn what Boulder has done and is doing to conserve open space and become a more sustainable city.

May 6, 2020, 3 PM ET — Creating Bearwise Communities. Join Linda Masterson, author of Living With Bears Handbook, and Dan Gibbs, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and co-chair of BearWise, to learn how gateway communities near parks can protect people and bears by becoming BearWise.

May 20, 2020, 3 PM ET — Connecting the Appalachian Trail, Conservation Landscapes, & Communities
Join Julie Judkins, with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and Katie Hess, with Pennsylvania’s South Mountain Partnership, to see how they are engaging with communities to support the Appalachian Trail and broader landscape conservation.

June 17, 2020, 3 PM ET — Partnering with Communities to Conserve Battlefields. Join Adam Gillenwater with the American Battlefield Trust to learn how they partner with communities to conserve historic sites and battlefields, some of which took place in town.

July 1, 2020, 3 PM ET — Planning for Successful Communities & Landscape Conservation
Join Dennis Glick and Randy Carpenter, with Future West, to learn about their Northern Rockies Successful Communities Initiative and how communities can identify, choose, and achieve their desired future.
