New Book: The Science of Open Spaces
Dr. Charles Curtin who works with the Center for Large Landscape Conservation and the Practitioners’ Network for Large Landscape Conservation has a new book on large landscape conservation. The Science of Open Spaces represents arguably the first book-length discussion of principles and practice of large landscape conservation. In it Curtin draws on experience from Africa and the US southwest and New England in establishing long-term, large-scale projects that reach across disciplines. This is a new approach to conservation that can help us address the underlying pathologies that lead to environmental degradation in large, complex settings and explores how to most effectively undertake collaborative, place-based conservation at large scales. It can be a useful resource for your own conservation work or for understanding conservation in general. If you’d like to purchase a copy from Island Press, use discount code 4OPEN for a 20% discount.
